Mike has worked in the media and production industry as a video journalist, cameraman and producer. He has filmed extensively throughout Europe and Africa and has produced a variety of programmes, including nature documentaries, sporting events and corporate videos. He has also written articles for numerous magazine publications. This led to the creation of Bigmouth Productions in 2005. As an experienced diver and freediver, Mike’s camera skills extend to a strong specialisation in underwater camerawork.
Andrew Sutherland Sound Engineer
Andrew has achieved substantial acclaim as a sound engineer, with his vast music knowledge and technical know-how. His inexhaustible patience and resistance to stress have ensured a loyal client following. Andrew has mixed it all - TV series’, documentaries, radio and TV commercials, television imaging, corporate videos and theatre soundscapes. Some say Andrew actually thinks in sound waves.... and that he listens to library music in his spare time...
Ashleigh Nash Assistant Producer & Jane Of All Trades
‘Ash Nash’ completed her Bachelor of Journalism (TV) at Rhodes University in 2008. After a few adventures she was snapped up by Bigmouth, where she now wears many hats. Ashleigh fulfils numerous roles that are essential to the production process: from conception to product. She also assists on film shoots and is an offline video editor. Behind Ashleigh’s bright smile is keen insight and endless resourcefulness, and she is an invaluable asset to the Bigmouth community.
Lehlohonolo Molapo Assistant Editor
Lehlohonolo (Hloni) graduated in 2009 with a BA Arts motion picture degree and hails from Jozi. At this stage he is a minnow in the television industry. He shares one trait with this little fish and that is the hunger to learn and ingest everything that comes his way. He is currently a production and editor assistant and grows with each passing day. Watch out for him, he’s next on the list to do “BIG” things.
Mpho Kutoana Production Manager
Without Mpho, life at Bigmouth would not be the same. Her welcome smile and humour greet our staff and clients on a daily basis. Originally from the Eastern Cape, Mpho moved to Jozi where she studied business management and public relations, all of which apply to her role at Bigmouth. Mpho is a valuable part of our business, and we look forward to her growth and contribution in the future.
Monica Kutoane Tea & Coffee Specialist
Also hailing from the Eastern Cape, Monica provides us with the essential service of continuous beverage refreshment – no visitor to our studio is left thirsty. Her contribution and growth within Bigmouth is something we encourage and look forward to.
Brendan Jury Musician & Composer - Jury Music
After graduating with a Bachelor of Music in 1994, Brendan embarked on a successful music career playing in ground-breaking SA rock groups, such as Urban Creep, Trans Sky and OHM. In 2002 Brendan joined up with Arno Carstens, launching his solo career. He played viola on the film score for Tsotsi, recorded and toured strings and keyboards for Arno Carsten’s second album, and toured SA and the UK with The Springbok Nude Girls. Brendan has composed tracks for TV Commercials, the BBC, Discovery Channel and several short films.
Warren Bleksley Producer & Director – Ignition Media
Warren brings the live television and series director experience to the company. He has been in the industry for sixteen years where he has worked on many genres as a director and a producer. Warren has directed hit shows such as Big Brother Africa and Deal or No Deal for MNET. Other highlights include: Elite Ops for SABC 2 which was a Best Reality Show nominee at the 2007 South African Film and Television Awards, KTV’s live show The Power Edition, and the live finale of the second South African series of Survivor in 2007.
Josh Feldman Producer & Director – Ignition Media
Josh has worked in all aspects of the industry from presenter to writer, director, creative director and producer for almost 20 years. His repertoire extends from conceptualising, producing and directing short form promo campaigns to in-studio & exterior long form, doccies, specials, inserts and OB’s for Channel O, Go, Movie Magic and MTV Base. He has just returned from Mozambique where he worked as a content director on “Survivor” for Endemol.
Gcina Tshabalala Producer – Ignition Media
Gcina is recognised in the local music industry for his work as content producer on Channel O’s “O-Boma”, his work as a production manager on SABC1’s drama “Mzanzi” and various other projects. He has been in the industry for over 10 years.
Fiona Ayerst Photographer
Fiona is both a highly acclaimed photographer, specializing in adventure-sport and underwater stills photography. She has won numerous international and local photographic competitions, and in 2003 was awarded the prestigious Fuji Getaway Wildlife Photographer of the year award. Her passion, skill and knowledge, is imparted willingly in the Photography courses that she runs on a regular basis. Fiona’s journalistic skills have been applied in the numerous articles she has written for magazine publications.
Rohan Dickson Script & Screen Writer
Rohan is an acclaimed screenwriter, who lends his writing talents to the film, TV and corporate industries. He achieved a Cum Laude distinction in Screenwriting at The School of Visual Arts in New York after completing an Honours Degree in Dramatic Arts at Rhodes University in South Africa. Rohan was nominated for the Short Film Palm d’Or Award at the 1999 Cannes Film Festival for his film “Husk”.Rohan has run writing teams on E-TV’s “Scandal”, SABC’s “Zone 14” and is currently head writer on M-NET’s new daily drama serial, while completing his M.A in Writing at The University of the Witwatersrand.
